Ambassador Andrew Young

The Honorable Andrew Young is Chairman of Atlanta-based Goodworks International, a consulting group providing strategic services to corporations and governments operating in the global economy. Young is an ordained minister, was a top aide to Martin Luther King jr. during the civil rights movement, served as Vice President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and currently serves as President of the National Council of Churches. The people of the 5th Congressional District of Georgia elected Young to three terms in the United States House of Representatives. In 1977, then-President Jimmy Carter named him Ambassador to the United Nations. Young also served two terms as mayor of Atlanta, and was co-chairman of the Centennial Olympic Games in 1996. Young serves on the Board of Directors of several companies, including Delta Air Lines, Argus, Archer Daniels Midland, Cox Communications, and Thomas nelson Publishing. Ambassador Young has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the French legion of Honor, the Bishop Walker humanitarian Award, and more than 40 honorary degrees.
